The Camping Site

Once you reached the Camping Site you need to keep a few things in mind for the camp site, such as:

Tent or Camper Area

When selecting an area for setting up a tent or camper you need to look for high ground with a flat surface preferably with some shade

Cooking Area

Do not Cook near the tent, camper or vehicle. Select a location at a safe distance away from any flammable objects such as leaves, bushes, trees etc. A good practice is to always keep a bucket of water next to the camp fire at all times.

It is good to scoop out a 5" deep by 18" radius hole and place rocks around the hole for the camp fire.

Water Locations

Do not drink pond water, if you brought fresh water with you use it for drinking and use pond / lake water for cleaning. If you do choose to drink the water from the camping area, it is a good choice to get it from a running water source such as a river or stream, boiling it is another good practice.

Cleaning and Washing Area

The cleaning and washing area is very important to you and the environment, you have to consider the animals around you. Do not clean your dishes or cloths in a lake or pond, soap detergents effect our ecosystem so consider bio-degradable soap, and you don't want to drink water that you are washing in, boiled or not.

Garbage Maintenance

Do not litter, you are there to enjoy the out doors so don't flick bottles or plastic or any litter for that matter in the wood. Keep it clean and the site can be a place you will enjoy for years. A place to build lasting memories for years to come. Bag all your garbage, so as not to attract unwanted animals and place in an area out of reach from critters large and small if possible.

Nature Calls

No. 1 and No. 2 should be taken care of in the appropriate place, some people take along portable toilets, some are perfectly transportable after use and can be discarded after you return home. When you choose to go out doors you have to keep a few things in mind, stay away from any water supplies, do not go near the camp site setup, and always keep nature, animals and others in mind.
