Coolers
Coolers are definitely a must when you go camping; they are great for keeping food and drinks cold and even frozen, some electrical coolers even warm up food. If you want to keep things frozen you add ice bags or ice and it is a good idea to have two coolers, one cooler for the food that you keep cold and another cooler for food you keep frozen.
Some coolers are electrical and can plug into a generator, you can get the chest style or an upright style, some coolers can be used in both positions and have shelves.
The cooler you use to keep food frozen should be kept closed with a good seal and not opened on a regular basis. The cooler for the drinks and butter and other refrigerated products will be open more frequently so the ice will melt quicker.
You can expect to pay anywhere from 30.00 to 160.00 and higher for a coolers.
Things to look for when buying a cooler are:
- Outer body material
- Electric or non-electric
- Handles for transporting
- Water drainage spout
- Inner Size - Usually measured in quarts
- Outer Size - Width and Length
- Light weight for carrying
