When you buy Fishing Hooks they usually come in packages of 10 to 20, you should buy a variety of styles of fishing hooks to keep in your tackle box, look for high carbon steel and laser or chemically sharpened fishing hooks.

It is good to change your fishing hooks often or sharpen your fishing hooks for maximum performance.

Fishing hook sharpeners are a great tool to have with you on your fishing trip, you don’t want that big catch to get away because of dull hooks.

There are a few different kinds of Fishing hook sharpeners with a few different features.

Some are designed for straight shank hooks, some have built-in magnifying lens to check your hooks point.

How To Tie A Fishing Hook or Fly

Different people will tell you different ways to tie a fishing hook or how to put a line on a fly. Here is how I do it and it works great for me.

1. First I cut about a foot of fishing line
2. Put line through fishing hook eye about three inches
3. Hold both lines and spin fishing hook to twirl line
4. Get short line and rerun it through the eye and come out through the space between the eye of the hook and the twirled line (if you have a good eye and a steady hand you can go right up through the twirl along side the long line)
5. Now pull on the long part of the fishing line while holding the twirled line as it moves to a stubbed coil atop the fishing hook
6. Cut excess from the short part of the fishing line
7. Tie a loop on the top of the long part of the fishing line
8. Place on spinner or swivel
9. The more the fish pull the tighter the tie becomes
